💎💍💎This shop is my personally curated collection of Antique Jewelry from around the globe.
I have a passion/obsession for jewelry from the Georgian, Victorian and Art Deco eras ...especially with old mine, rose and rough cut diamonds and gems. The spectacular handwrought metal work from those eras is a lost art as well.
💎 Please be aware that I am not a "Certified Gemologist", but have over 50 years of experience handling ALL types of jewelry 👑 HAPPILY & COMPLETELY OBSESSED with Jewelry and Gems ☻ 💎
💎 I do my very best to provide accurate photos and information on all my pieces to the best of my knowledge.
☼The pieces may show evidence of their previous life: signs of wear, dents, scratches, oxidation, and this is the condition you will receive them. I do not polish the pieces other than a wash and a rouge cloth by hand as many, including myself, appreciate the way I find them. High polish, in my opinion , can take away some of the detailing and charm.
💎Please read the descriptions and observe the photos carefully before purchasing and email me if you require more information.
💎The special thing about all these Antique pieces is the uniqueness, history and longevity of these item...possibly to pass on to a loved one...most are one of a kind. They all have a story...if they only could talk!!!! Each piece carries some trace of those who have loved and enjoyed them in the past...
💎 Antique jewelry is actually not valued by the Gold Content or Diamond (or colored stones) Cut, Clarity,& Color ( the three C's) or weight , but as an Antiquity, a Treasure and a piece of history.
💎Vintage and Antique jewelry is Highly Collectable and going up in value as they are becoming more scarce.
💍💎💍My Bio in the jewelry field:
☼I took my first jewelry making course Fall 1969 in Berkeley California - I was just out of high school where I learned Metalsmithing with Silver & Gold. I knew then that this would be my life's work...
I spent the early to mid 70's as a Bench Jeweler making original one of a kind pieces in silver and gold by hand with torches, wire and sheet metal. Later I incorporated the lost wax method of casting which I learned in 1972. I also aided in the casting and polishing process which gave me a true sense how things are made.
💍 In 1978 I enrolled in GIA courses in Jewelry Design & Rendering , Diamond Grading, and Colored stone identification in Santa Monica California. That year I was hired by a jewelry factory in Los Angeles, where I learned how mass production was done, and eventually ran the gem department buying diamonds and other precious and semi precious stones.
💍 I spent about 30 years as a fashion/costume jewelry designer, manufacturer & importer starting in the early 80's when gold skyrocketed, and was left without work in fine jewelry.
I landed up, to my surprise, totally enjoying my work and travelled extensively to the Orient and NYC for the job.
☼The sad part of about the outcome is most of it was disposable low end "trend jewelry" for the masses such as Macy's, Express, Kohl's, White House/ Black Market etc... I loved my work but hated the "throwaway" aspect. Nothing was made with integrity.
💍💎💍The balance of my 50+ year career was in Fine Jewelry from Ultra expensive Gold items where I assisted the Designer buying and picking diamonds for the mountings and repairing amazing antique jewelry~ to a low end gold Factory who manufactured Gold jewelry for the department stores such as JC Penney's, and chain jewelry stores.
💍I opened a factory in Mexico employing over 100 people from 1997-2000 manufacturing pewter costume jewelry for chain stores like Macy's , Nordstroms etc. & "Private Label" under the name "Jan Palmer & Co." ...Some of which served as rock concert souvenirs for the likes of Bob Dylan and Mariah Carey.
☼When I closed the company due to not being able to beat China pricing... I was offered a job in NYC and moved there in 2001 on my 50th birthday as head designer for a well known mass production importer of Fashion/Costume jewelry just after 911.
💍In 2004 I created a classic "sculpted" gold collection ( casted) while living in NYC ( janpalmerjewelry.com website ) as a side project and still working as a designer in Imported Fashion Jewelry. This is where I really escalated collecting antique jewelry from the NYC flea markets where they have many European antiques finding rose cut diamonds & Georgian ,Victorian and Art Deco pieces most fascinating ,and adding rose cut diamonds into my original designs.
☼The "Colored Cube" collection under "past works" was made from multi colored semi-precious cube beads & sterling was *featured* in the Museum of Modern Art Shop in NYC in 2005. and sold out.

☼☼☼I experienced a total meltdown designing and importing low end pieces that were disposable. That's why I came up with my "Jewelry for Life" sculptured metal collection as mentioned above in 2004. I have sculpted the human figure & animals, created bronzes for decades and felt simple designs with sculpted metal feel was the way to go for longevity. Classics, Geometric and understandable shapes with a rustic texture twist ...incorporating rose cut diamonds.
☼I was commissioned the following year to design a bracelet for the prestigious Oscars party. Over the years my work has been shown in countless magazines as Lucky, Elle, Vogue, Vibe, Bride and National Jeweler.
💎I have not been taking custom orders or making any originals since the pandemic... semi retired and concentrating on the buying and selling antique jewelry only. (See my other Etsy shop is JanPalmerDesigns for in stock pieces. Made for keepsakes as an intention= "Jewelry for Life").
💎PLEASE feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
No "Reasonable" offer refused.
🙏Thanks for looking ☮️
