FRAMING GUIDE:
I offer framed prints of my photographs for sale in my shop, with the largest print size I can frame and ship being 24x36 inches. I am also limited to fairly simple, classic frame styles and mats, which actually work great for photography. If you're interested in framing a larger sized print, want to customize the frame and materials beyond what I am able to offer, or just want to DIY, I recommend ordering prints unframed. To help with this, I've put together the following framing guide:

Online Framers:
These framers offer online framing. You will choose and purchase a framing style from them, and they will have you send your print to them for framing. Just enter the dimensions of your print and the framers will show you frame options to fit your artwork (ie, if you order a 20x30 print from me, the art size and opening size will be 20x30).. Most companies will even send you shipping labels and packaging to make shipping your artwork super easy and safe. Online framing cuts out the overhead costs of brick-and-mortar shops, and can be a great option if your project has fairly simple, classic framing needs. Local print shops, on the other hand, can be more helpful since you get to see the materials in person and speak to the framer about options. Both have their pros and cons. Here are a few of my personal favorite online framers:

 ‣  Framebridge (www.framebridge.com) is an online framer that offers custom picture framing for prints up to 24x36 inches. They offer a large variety of stylish, on-trend frames and matting options, and make it easy for you to preview your print within a frame, They'll send you a shipping label to send your print to them for framing, and return the print to you once it's done. Framebridge has excellent pricing and is very user friendly. If you're looking to frame a print that is 24x36 inches or smaller, I highly recommend Framebridge
.
‣  Pictureframes.com (www.pictureframes.com) is another online framer that offers custom printing, and they allow for framing prints larger than 24x36. They do have a Covid-19 shipping surcharge for prints over 40 inches. Coupon codes are available frequently on their website. Pictureframes.com has a huge selection of frames for both paper prints and canvas gallery wraps.

‣  American Frame (www.americanframe.com) is another online framer that offers custom framing and they do allow for framing large scale prints. Their turnaround time can be rather lengthy but their materials are very high quality and they are frequently used for large professional framing jobs, so their work is well known. Large selection of frames and coupon codes are often available.

Local framing options:
During Covid, many small frame shops have closed and you may find limited options among such shops. Fortunately, there are other options! Larger chain stores offer custom and off-the-rack framing, at affordable prices, and these stores are open and reliable during the Covid pandemic. You can likely find one of these stores near you:

‣  Michaels stores - (www.michaels.com or www.michaelscustomframing.com) You can find premade frames, mats, and mounting supplies off the rack at Michaels stores, which may work for you if you can find the size you want. Or, take advantage of their in-store custom frame shop, which offers quality framing at a lower cost than many other local framers. You can find coupon codes through Google to help make your custom frame project even more affordable.

‣  IKEA - (www.ikea.com/us/en/cat/picture-photo-frames-18746/) for premade frames, I highly recommend their RIBBA series. These frames are classic and come in black, white, and natural wood tones, and often are paired with precut mats. Seriously, pretty much any photo looks great in a RIBBA frame!

‣  JOANN Fabrics (www.joann.com/custom-framing/) Similar to Michaels, Joann Fabrics is a chain arts and craft store that has an in-house custom framer. You can find promo codes online to help make your order more affordable.

DIY Framing:
If your print is 16x24 or smaller, you can easily frame your own work, and premade frames can be found locally at art, home decor, and picture frame shops. Or, you can order custom frames from Amazon, or any of the above frame sites, and frame your print yourself once you receive the frame. If you choose to go this route, you will want to make sure you mount your artwork correctly. I recommend using a hinge-mount technique so that your artwork isn't touched by any adhesives. You can learn how to do this very simple mounting process here: https://www.framedestination.com/picture-frame-mounting

OTHER FRAMING OPTIONS:
Finally, if all of the above options don't work for you, then I suggest trying a canvas gallery wrap or metal print instead of a framed print. The former are both less expensive than framed prints in the end, and they come ready-to-hang. Canvas is personally my favorite way to display my artwork, and it also happens to be the most affordable, especially at larger sizes.

Frequently asked questions

Return and Exchange Details

I offer unframed prints, framed prints, canvas gallery wraps, and metal prints. Each piece is made to order. Given the custom nature of my work, only some items can be returned.

Canvas wraps under 40 inches in length can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Please contact me within 7 days of receiving your order to initiate a return. Clients are responsible for return shipping costs. Canvases 40 inches and larger are not eligible for returns.

Framed prints may have the frame exchanged, but cannot be refunded. Contact me within 7 days of receiving your order to initiate a frame exchange.

Metal prints and unframed prints are not eligible for returns or refunds.

If any item arrives damaged or defective, I will replace it at no cost.

Can I return something because the colors look a bit different in person than online?

Please note that I color calibrate my monitor and follow industry standard professional practices to ensure color fidelity from my screen to print. That said, computer and phone screens are backlit and each individual screen has its own color settings, so as with ANY online order, some slight variation in color may occur from what clients see on screen vs. in print,. However, this difference should be very slight if anything. Given that I can't color calibrate or control every client's screen who orders from me, this is not an acceptable reason for returns, and I cannot be held responsible for such variations.

What kind of paper should I choose?

Most photos print beautifully on both fine art paper and lustre paper, so you really can't go wrong no matter which paper you choose.

Having said that, colorful or scenic photos print best on lustre paper, as the semi-gloss finish enhances the saturation and contrast in these images.

Abstract photographs print well on both paper types, but fine art paper enhances the painterly, impressionist quality of these photos.

For black and white photos, I find that fine art paper works best as it brings out the subtle gradations of tones, and enhances the traditional artistic quality of black and white photography.

What is the difference between lustre and fine art paper?

The biggest difference between lustre and fine art paper is that lustre has a semi-matte finish with a very slight texture, whereas fine art paper has a totally matte, smooth finish. The print process is different for both paper types, as well - lustre prints are created using a traditional, chromogenic print process, whereas fine art prints are created using a giclee, inkjet print process. Fine art prints are more expensive to create both because of the print process and the paper is more expensive than lustre. Both papers are archival (will not fade) for 100 years when displayed under glass in normal lighting conditions.

Can you print at custom sizes?

Yes, most images can be printed at custom sizes. This usually requires the image to be cropped from its original ratio. Extensive cropping will limit how large the image can be printed. Please contact me if you're interested in a custom size.

Can I change the shipping address on my order?

I will ship your order to the address that you entered during the checkout process. Please review your shipping address carefully prior to placing your order. I process orders within 24 hours of receiving them, so if you find that you have made a mistake on your shipping address, please contact me within 24 hours of placing your order. Once an order ships, it is the client's responsibility to contact the shipping provider and have the shipment rerouted to a different address. USPS, FedEx, and UPS all offer rerouting options. I cannot ship a new print to another address after your order ships to the address provided at checkout.

I accidentally placed an order or made a mistake on my order. What can be done about this?

Buyers are responsible for carefully reviewing their orders prior to placing them. If you make a mistake on your order (e.g., order two of the same item, etc) please contact me within 24 hours. Otherwise, I will proceed with your order as placed, and my standard return policy will apply.

Do you sell digital downloads of your photographs?

I do not sell digital downloads of my work. I am a full time artist and make my living selling fine art prints of my work in galleries and online, so my files are really the lifeblood of how I make my living. If I were ever to sell them, the pricing for a file would be much higher than that of a single print.

That said, I create my work with a large format, professional DSLR camera and professional lenses, and collaborate closely with an extremely high-end printer who custom prints each photograph to order, creating the best possible print result. I take great pride in my work, from researching, scouting, and photographing my subjects, all the way through the print process. I am happy to create the best possible quality print for you.

What are your shop hours?

Like most people, I do need to unwind every once in awhile and take care of my home and family, not to mention take new photographs and run the minutiae of my business. I do have daily studio hours that enable me to have a life and also take care of my clients!

Here is when you can reach me via Etsy messages during the work week: (EST)

M: 11-3 pm
T: 10-5 pm
W: 12-6 pm
R: 12-6 pm
F: 12- 6 pm

Please feel fee to message me any time, but I may not be able to get back to you immediately, and my response may take longer depending on the complexity of the request. I may choose to respond to inquiries outside of regular business hours, but for the sake of my sanity and that of my family's, I try to avoid any screens during my off time! :)

Do Your Prints Come with a Border?

Yes, as an art printing industry standard and a courtesy to buyers to help line up the print when framing, I include a 1-2 inch white border on all of my unframed print orders. I also sign prints in the white border space below the print area, so that my signature does not detract from viewing the print.

This white border is in addition to the print size selected, ie, an 8x10 print will be printed on a 10x12 sheet of paper so the print has an extra inch border around it.

If you have a frame or mat you're planning to use that does not allow for the border when framing, simply trim away the excess white space.

If you would prefer that your print not come with a border, just message me when placing your order.
