Description:
This game is based on the popular game dominoes. Each column or triangles represents two random draws of 7 (without replacement) from the collection of all 28 possible dominoes. The width and height of each triangle is determined by the numbers on the domino. The bottom row of bluish triangles gives the viewer the sensation of impending collapse and the triangles seem impossibly stacked. Their is almost the sensation that something is about to happen, a visual representation of many domino cliches commonly used in language. I worked on "Domino" for a long time, and I think I've finally gotten it right. Cheers.
Artist statement:
My work explores the relationship between chance, randomness, probability and the natural human impulse to seek visual structure. With influences as diverse as Piet Mondrian, Vilmos Huszár, and Bart van der Leck of the Dutch neoplasticism (Nieuwe Beelding in Dutch) movement of the early 20th century and contemporary artist Damien Hirst, my goal is to explore these connections through digital art, marrying aesthetic principles with data visualizations generated using statistical computing software and pseudo-random number generation.
