How fun to create this traditional Irish Claddagh ring with a modern twist! The history and symbolism of this ring is astounding.
With the heart for love, the crown for loyalty, and the hands for friendship, you can use this ring to represent your relationships and Irish heritage. This traditional ring has been used as a token of love for centuries.
Wear the heart facing out if you are single, and facing toward your heart if you are in a relationship.
I hand craft each ring entirely from different sheets and wires in sterling silver and 14/20 gold. I begin by hand sawing the base of the hands, heart, and crown from sterling silver sheet. I then drill holes and pierce the openings of the hands using a small jewelers saw. I also saw the heart shape from 14/20 gold. I hand file and sand all the edges, and form beaded sterling silver wire as multi-dimensional crown accents. I then solder the heart and crown details to the base, and solder each side of the band to the face of the ring. After cleaning, rounding, filing, and sanding, I hammer the gold heart for texture, and oxidize and buff the crown to define it. I buff the shank to a soft matte finish, and the heart to a high shine.
Your ring may vary slightly from the photo, the beauty and uniqueness of a hand crafted art jewelry piece!
"This is my heart which I give to you crowned with my love."
"Let love and friendship reign."
