Most item are shipped Priority Mail via USPS. This automatically includes $100 insurance.
If shipping long distance, coast to coast, it is sometimes substantially cheaper to ship Ground, in which case insurance for the value of the item is added.

I try to ship the least expensive way via USPS. In most cases, that is Priority Mail with an insured rate of $100. For items valued more that than, additional insurance is provided to cover it. In some cases, it is less expensive to ship USPS Ground. There can be a substantial difference between the two. If Ground is the cheaper by a wide margin, then I will ship Ground with added insurance.
