As the creative business owner behind The Plaid Cupcake, my goal is to create handmade pick-me-ups that will make your day both bright and sweet.
Let me explain. Think of a recent “bad day.” Maybe you got caught in the rain, had a project go down the tubes, or spilled red wine down your new, white, chiffon blouse. What little pick-me-up helped turn your day around? Maybe it was a crocus popping up in a sidewalk crack, a special frothy drink from Starbucks, or a pretty necklace that a friend gave you.
The Plaid Cupcake is here to give you that little bit of creativity – that little pick-me-up – that just might make the difference. A special coffee cozy to brighten up that blah paper cup, or a new wristlet to carry to happy hour with the girls. Maybe a cute new luggage tag will make your 2-hour delay at JFK just a little more bearable.
My love of fabric sprang from my love of other crafts- namely needlework, then knitting, then jewelry design. I was in a local craft store looking for vintage beads when I noticed their lineup of candy-colored fabric bolts along the back wall. I was hooked. Granted, my sewing skills at the time were extremely limited. We’re talking 6th/7th grade home economics limited where all I knew how to sew was a tote bag, and not very well mind you. But, after a few internet tutorials and a number of phone calls/consultations with my Aunt the quilter, the possibilities started to present themselves.
Why “The Plaid Cupcake?” Because we all need some whimsy, some fun, and some sweetness in our day.
This is where you find it.
