Pronounced "nine-nine", the name of this new bird feeder design came initially from their dimensions, 9" X 9". It was also the name of one of my favorite record stores in NYC, back in the 80's.

The design of these bird feeders is based on the larger 'Charm' series. The square frame is hand cut and welded from 16g hot rolled steel. A "hammock" made from welded stainless steel screen and stainless steel rods rests inside the frame and holds seeds. The screen allows for water to drain through, and the entire inside section can easily be removed for cleaning.

For a few years now I've been accumulating and saving smaller lengths of stainless steel screen that are inevitably leftover from the Charm bird feeders. Since I'd been meaning to work on some slightly less expensive bird feeders, I thought I'd start by trying to put those extra pieces to use.

These bird feeders measure 9" X 9" square. They are 4" deep and the stainless steel rods are each 10" long.

The steel is treated with outdoor primer before being sprayed with Rustoleum enamel. I finished these in a few colors I haven't used before. They can also be finished in any of the other color you see displayed on different designs.

I've had the feeder up for several weeks now and it's both functional and sleek. Birds love it - though due to size, it's best really for the smaller ones (swallows, finches). Although mourning doves and the resident bluejay have no problems with it, it's just too small for them to get too comfy, unless you're the dove who likes to just lounge on the mesh seed holder part. My main concerns before purchasing had been whether it would rust and how it would withstand bird droppings (and cleaning). So far? No problems. I love it and am definitely going to be buying more from here.
