4 out of 5 starsHandmade BJD kimono with beautiful fabric, lovely combination of colours and patterns! It has a couple of small flaws (loose stitching) but these should be easy to fix and show that the outfit is handmade and one of a kind

3 out of 5 starsKanzashi is cute, but seller failed to meet deadlines and didn't follow through with their word. I realize these are handmade, but it took quite a bit of time, because I was told they pushed my order back in favour of one they felt was more important to fulfill. I ended up not getting this when I needed it. I may buy again if the seller can prioritize orders better

I design, photograph and make the kanzashi. Tara, of course, has her fingers involved in much of the process. I enjoy folding the petals and creative new designs!

I help make the "hair things" (clips, combs, prongs etc). I especially enjoy the hand dying process! I also paint and draw little sketches of our work.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging
Your handmade tsumami zaiku (kanzashi, or hair pin) will be shipped to you wrapped in tissue paper in an organza bag. Your shipping box doubles as a gift box. It is a sturdy, but pretty box with a lid. The color and design of the box varies by size.
Generally the box is wrapped in bubble wrap for extra security. If you require double boxing (recommended for some countries, such as Italy and France), please upgrade to EMS and inquire about insurance.
Care instructions
Your hair pin should be stored in a dry place and in low humidity. Where possible, keep your kanzashi with some silicon gel bags or other de-humidifying products. Also, because the hair pins are silk, if you have cedar blocks, you may store them in your hair pin box.
Do not get your hair pin wet. Should it get a little wet, you can reshape the petals while still damp. Gently, and with clean hands or not-very-sharp tweezers, shape the silk into its shape.
Downpayments for custom orders
For custom orders over $50.00 USD, I do require a 50% down-payment. This is nonrefundable. HOWEVER, I will do my best to please! Thank you!
I can remake your custom order once without any kind of surcharge, and add on or "edit" orders until you are satisfied. Please note this will take time-- sometimes as much as a month extra for sending samples and matching dress colors. If you request really special orders, your cooperation through etsy conversations is necessary. This is because I cannot proceed without your written approval. :)
Mailing to another address:
If you would like to send an order to a friend, please make a note when you purchase. I will ship to wherever you like-- as long as the post office goes there. :)
Shipping charges
If I ever overcharge your shipping by more than $3 (the cost of the gift box and bags), I will refund you the difference. Please do not hesitate to purchase upgraded shipping either-- I will definitely refund you if it actually costs less than anticipated! In the event of undercharging for shipping please pay me back the difference; I am only an artisan, not a major company.
The U.K. and the European Union (and Europe non E.U.) are estimated to be with registered mail. If you’d like to upgrade to registered and speedy mail, go for EMS.
Insurance & shipping upgrades
The first option for shipping is always for first class air mail, small packet. This does not come with insurance or tracking. There will be additional charge maintained by Kuro Neko or Japan Post for insuring packages.
Regular shipping: not insured, 2-5 weeks delivery. It may be held up in customs in some countries, depending on your mail carrier.
Shipping upgrades are available from the shopping cart.
1: add tracking, and insurance up 6000JPY (currently about $53, but this fluctuates) to your package for +$4. , delivery time 2-5 weeks.
2: EMS, speedy shipping: add insurance to cover the entire cost of your order, tracking, and speedy delivery within 3-5 business days for most countries, though it does vary.
