Where did I learn how to sew? .. well my mother taught me - owned a fabric store when I was in my teens, She has done some pretty high end quilting- me I love the media and I have learned many little things when working with her. I inherited her fabric store sewing machine (Bernina 830 record) plus bought an industrial machine (Adler) and a serger - Bernina and a home middle level embroidery machine . I can personalize, serge go through bunches of leather but on vacation, I work on what appeals to me and I have a houseful of whippets and patterns for IG to greys. It is a sewing mecca - and via my mother I learned how to make things right take the time to rip it out and get it right, Make it square, do and make binding and a pleathora of stuff starting at single digits of age. My mother was/is very about getting it right, .. I make sure my stuff is wear ready check all seams, sew squarely as best I can .. and I am taking a sewing class form an experienced pattermaker - just to learn how to make it better. If my regular coats cannot be taken out by a dog in my house for a romp in back yard and then get washed and put back on . I am not doing my job. Functional, pretty, and durable.
