FILLED-GOLD

♦ I offer filled-gold as an option for many of the pieces I craft.

♦14k Yellow GF = 14k yellow gold filled
♦14k Rose GF = 14k Rose gold filled

"Gold-filled jewelry is jewelry composed of a solid layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base of either sterling silver or some base metal. This is different from gold plated because it will never tarnish or rub off."

Does your jewelry tarnish?

Most of the Jewelry is offered in brass, Sterling silver, 14k rose gold-filled and 14k yellow gold-filled. All of these metals can be worn during sleep, in the shower, swimming, etc.
♦brass♦ tends to get a deeper golden yellow when it is worn all the time.
♦Sterling silver♦ will remain shiny while you wear it, but will oxidize when it is not being worn.
♦Gold-filled♦ will never tarnish or "rub off."
A few Gotiska Stil pieces are offered in ♦bronze♦ and ♦copper♦ which may develop a patina (a green or brown film on the surface of bronze or similar metals, produced by oxidation after a long period of time)... most likely they will not develop a patina if you wear these pieces often.
♥ I honestly think patina is beautiful on metal. ♥

Will this turn my skin green?

Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc. The reason it sometimes turns the skin green is due to a natural reaction between the alloys and the oils in the skin (or lotion). Brass can turn some skin green while other people do not have the same chemical make up in their skin, hence it does not affect them the same way. I personally wear brass every day and it no longer turns my skin green. I believe it is because I wear my rings so often that my skin has adapted to the metal alloys. One thing that can be done is to coat the inside of the ring with clear nail polish if you wish. I am sorry that you are upset about this. I recommend wearing the ring often so the skin can adapt.
