I am a solo woman entrepreneur founder of the brand Aliame - my range of fine 925 sterling silver jewellery. The pieces are all personally designed by me and I get them made myself by sitting with the artisans in the workshop so that my thoughts are translated just as i intended and for ensuring excellent polishing and finishing.

The designs are all modern, contemporary and one-of-a-kind with an equally unique story behind them. Each collection has a theme and each piece has a story to tell.

I have showcased my collection in exhibitions and have received really rave reviews on my designs and product quality. People have said that they have never seen anything like this before both in terms of concepts and finishing on silver. As you can imagine that for an artist this is the biggest compliment and as a business person I know there is an audience for my product.

I come from a middle class working family and therefore have started Aliame with my savings after working for more than a decade, first in the jewellery industry in Mumbai and then in Marketing mostly in Bangalore, India. Since I am trying to build a premium brand on a shoestring budget you can imagine it's really difficult. But I still dared to do it simply based on my passion and knowledge of jewellery :)

I have a decade of experience in designing, overseeing manufacturing and marketing jewellery for a range of high end international clientele like Links of London and Erickson Beamon from London, Leslie Greene and other high end designers in US. I gathered this experience working with export houses in Mumbai which emphasised the importance of quality in jewellery. I then left the jewellery industry and moved onto roles in Marketing starting from sales to offline marketing to digital marketing for luxury sector, hospitality and consulting.

I was recently also invited by the Etsy community here in India to talk about my successful Etsy journey and provide inspiration and help to the budding creative artists :). I was such an amazing and surreal experience and honestly so proud to be a part of this wonderful community :)

2. There was another feature, this time on one of the most famous content and fashion portals 'iDiva'. This iDiva coverage we didn't even know about until we started seeing referral traffic to the website :)
