Elusionary Landscapes: Back Roads of Rural America

Three new blank greeting cards that celebrate the rural heartland. Based on travels on the back roads of Tenneessee and Washington, I have created a new series called "Elusionary Landscapes." The glimpse from the road is elusive, (elusionary...) as is the sense of time and history held by the classic shapes of rural architecture. Embedded in the original photographic imagery are layers of ephemera, pages from children's primers, ledgers and letters from the late 1800's. The shape of the images is created from the covers of old books I have gathered in antique stores and scouring Ebay. Step back into vintage time, pour yourself a cup of tea (or a stiff old fashioned) and write to a friend.

Each card is individually wrapped with an envelope in a clear cello bag ideal for giving as gifts. Cards fold to 5x7 inches to fit an A7 envelope, a generous size offering room to write a letter or a brief note as you choose.

The original artwork is created from a blend of my own photography and painting and printed by me in my studio on fine Moab Entrada Rag paper. This heavyweight 100% rag paper has a unique soft texture ideal both for fine art printing and for writing with pencil or pen. The cards are printed with archival inks and are suitable for framing. Larger limited edition prints of these artworks are available in my shop in Botanical Prints.
