Hello and welcome to Rinus Leatherworks!

Let me tell you a little bit of why I opened this shop.

First, I must tell you that I love most things fantasy. This includes many fandoms, such as; Star Wars, Harry Potter, Dungeons and Dragons, renaissance fairs, anime and so much more. I spend the weekends playing D&D, boards games, and hiking with my family and friends. This brings me to the reason why I stared this Etsy shop.

As a fire academy student and a wildland firefighter I spent many days and night away from my family. I rushed from one emergency to another during the scorching California summers, missing time from my wife, first born, and my newborn. I quickly began to look for a new way to spend quality time with my family and share with my two children my passion for fantasy. This is when I started my leatherworking.

My first piece of work was armor for my son for our upcoming renaissance fair. We looked for something that would be easy to put on and take off, light enough to be worn for long hours and something other than just basic colors. I decided to make it for him as both a bonding experience with my son and a way to become a crafter.

Once at the renaissance fair, he LOVED every minute of it. To him it was not just a dragon scale outfit, but instead he was a warrior getting ready to rescue the princess. Characters at the fair addressed him as a squire or a warrior in training. He saw it all in a new light and I realized that the outfit I had created for him gave him the ability to fit right in, to him it was magical. This led me to share this sort for passion to others.

I began to work on my skills and created other nerdy items for my friends and family. Soon I was told that my pieces helped them attend fairs and or cosplay as another character, giving them confidence and the ability to escape into another time and place in a story. They became part of what they were passionate about and admire. After knowing how my son and my customers felt I decided to pass this experience to the customers of Etsy.

I take great pride in my work and am proud to say it is all made by me. Yes, I cut the leather, sew it, dye it, and assemble it from my home. It gives me that ability to help you escape to a fantasy place or just help you have a better gaming experience.

I don’t have much pre-made since I like to customize the orders to make sure each and every customer is satisfied with their experience.
