Photo tips:
If your pet has passed away we can work from any old photo you can provide please try and find one that fits the guidelines below. If your pet is still with us, please take a fresh photo with these tips in mind...
You do not have to meet all of these criteria (we know some dogs won't ever sit still!), but these types of photos will turn out best:
- Close up photos work best, but try not to go so close that you crop the ears or chest off
- Don't worry about the background, this will be removed before painting
- Take the picture in natural light in the daytime, preferably outside. Avoid dark blurry photos inside with yellow lighting.
- Have the dog looking at the camera (hold a treat above the camera to get them to look )
- Crouch down so the dog isn't looking up, camera at their eye level works best, looking up can sometimes obscure the chest.
- Use a photo without strong shadows, or light streaks across the face
- Avoid photos where part of the head or shoulders is cropped, but don't worry we can try to rebuild the cut off parts if no other option.
