This is a listing for a set of digital plans and instructions to build a foldable climbing triangle. No physical product will be shipped.
I designed this triangle because I wanted to build one for my daughter but couldn't seem to find anything existing that I liked the look of. The triangle is fairly simple but I think the key distinguishing feature is the simple and elegant hinge design, it it can be opened or closed quickly without any fasteners or tools.
I have built many of these for friends and family and had nothing but positive feedback, so I am sharing this design for others to enjoy.
After purchasing you will have instant access (after payment processing) to download:
• PDF plan (metric dimensions)
• A3 tiled PDF plan (can also be printed on 11x17 in sheets)
• Build instructions and notes
• 3D CAD model (.STEP file)
• DXF drawing file of the legs.
I will also provide links to a detailed blog post and Youtube video showing myself building a triangle.
The finished triangle is 599 mm tall and 608 mm wide. Although the width can easily be varied by cutting the dowels to a different length. The pictured triangle was an early prototype and the final drawings are slightly different but the changes are minor.
Materials you will need:
• Plywood (approx. 18mm thick or 3/4")
• Dowel (approx. 28 mm diameter or 1")
• Screws (8 gauge, around 40 mm long, preferably with large diameter head)
Tools you will need (recommended):
• Ruler
• Pencil
• Compass or circle template
• Angle protractor
• Drill with forstner bit that matches the diameter of your dowel.
• Jigsaw
• Router with 1/4" round over bit
• Sandpaper or power sander
These plans are for personal use only, please contact me directly if you are interested in a commercial license.
SAFETY: This listing is for a set of plans that instruct the user on how to build a climbing triangle. It is up to the user to assess whether what they have built is safe, fit for purpose and meets the safety requirements in their jurisdiction. In saying that, I have built over a dozen of these which have been in constant use for several years and have had no issues.
